How we work

We read each fact on a page we can link to, and we note the day we read it. A sentence on this site never says more than its source. When sources disagree, as they do on the plates at Silfra and on some operators' limits, we give both.

We rely on the national park and Visit Iceland first. Where only an operator gives a figure, such as the water temperature or the visibility, we say so: those who sell a tour also write about it. Some of the park's rules are on its Icelandic page, and we translated them.

Limits, what each tour includes and its other rules come from the tour's own page on GetYourGuide, read on 5 November 2026. Prices, ratings and the counts of tours and reviews come from GetYourGuide's lists, read on 4 November 2026. The details under each list of tours show the day we last read the prices.

On accidents, we read one report in full: Iceland Review, 13 February 2017, listed below. We give no rate, because we found no figure we could stand behind. If you know of a better source, please write to us.

We earn a commission if you book through our links, at no extra cost to you.
